Inhalation Treatments
Inhalation treatments with alkaline bicarbonate, sodium fluoride, thermal water recognized by the Ministry of Health, are particularly effective for respiratory diseases. These include rhinitis, rhinosinusitis, otitis, pharyngitis, laryngitis, bronchitis and other similar conditions, also at allergic etiology. Therapies are performed in different ways depending on the patient’s needs. At Bibione Thermae, the available technology includes direct inhalations, aerosols, sonic aerosols, ionic aerosols, nasal irrigation, micronized nasal showers, and nebulization.
Inhalation treatments in Bibione Thermae
They consist of a direct jet of water sprayed at a temperature of 38 ºC approximately.
The compressed water is released under pressure, resulting in the crushing into small particles. It can be performed orally or nasally depending on the mouthpieces used.
It consists in rinsing the nasal cavities with thermal water at 37 ºC and at low pressure. The fluorinated sodium bicarbonate mineral water, through a special pulse irrigator equipped with olive, penetrates into a nostril and comes out of the opposite nostril, cleansing the nasal and nasopharyngeal mucosa.
The thermal water particles are subjected to a flow of sound waves with a frequency of 100 Hertz. This treatment allows them to penetrate the cavities of the paranasal sinuses and middle ear through the Eustachian tube. For this therapy a particular fork is used.
Negative aeroionotherapy is associated with aerosol. This particular inhalation treatment is mainly indicated in vasomotor rhinitis and chronic bronchitis.
It consists in putting in a closed environment a large amount of thermal water in the form of dense fog, consisting of countless tiny droplets that the person breathes from the nose and mouth, without the help of snorkels or forks. This is why nebulizations are the basis of any inhalation treatment for respiratory diseases during paediatric age, as they are well accepted even by children.
Lung ventilation aims to improve respiratory function through mechanical and pharmacological interventions on the deepest bronchial branches. It is often recommended to accompany lung ventilation and inhalation care with respiratory rehabilitation programs such as respiratory gymnastics and postural drainage, performed by qualified personnel and available at the centre of Bibione Thermae.
These treatments are particularly indicated for bronchial asthma and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease. They are personalised according to the indications of the specialist, with the help of a spirometric examination to assess respiratory function.
