Osteopathy
Osteopathy is a set of manipulative techniques that complement traditional medicine, born in the United States in the late 1800s.
The American surgeon Still coined the term "Osteopathy" (from the Greek 'osteon' - bone and 'pàthos' - suffering) to indicate a medical discipline that cures the body by restoring its intrinsic healing abilities.
Dexterity is at the heart of the assessment, diagnosis and treatment of the person, using a rational approach to pathology.
Osteopathic dysfunction is the response of the body to the alteration of mobility of body structures, generating zones of compensation and adaptation that alter the balance of the body.
The osteopathy session lasts 55 minutes and is recommended at least once every two weeks. The therapy is performed by an osteopath therapist who has a degree in Physiotherapy.
Osteopathy treats the main neuromusculoskeletal system dysfunctions resulting from traumatic events or postural adaptations, acting on muscle, bone, cranio-sacral, myofascial and visceral structures.
Osteopathy is effective in treating multiple disorders, including:
- Joint and muscle pain
- Consequences of surgical interventions
- Arthrosis
- Pathologies of the spine (cervicalgia-lumbago)
- Migraine and headache
- Postural syndromes
- Changes in balance, tinnitus and dizziness
- Pediatric diseases
